The
Map
Before
I begin, I'd like to introduce you to the map which I have constructed
below. Used in conjunction with the text, it can assist visualization
of the events. To give some idea of scale (which is not present),
the long corridor of the hospital, as it runs north to south, is approximately
275 metres in length. Believe me, if you've seen it you would swear
it disappeared into eternity. Ordnance Survey (sheet SU 88/98),
however, have it at about 275 metres.
Nevertheless,
that has to be in contention for the longest enclosed corridor in
Berkshire. Let's get this straight: Nothing matches it in Slough Industrial
Estate or even Wexham Park Hospital. It's longer than the ocean liner
Queen Mary. Identical to the length of Maidenhead High Street
from where it begins at the base of Castle Hill to its intersection
with Queen Street - the C.R.C.M.H seemingly deserves preservation
for this fact alone. This map may also come in handy if there are
any potential "Flinch-hunters" out there - not that Owen or myself
accept any responsibility for what may or may not eventuate...

Now that you are familiar with the surroundings,
I shall begin...
